Tharki Chokro

Singer: Swaroop Khan
Composers: Ajay, Atul
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

Musical and mood-swinging song! The use of Rajasthani instruments has given it a folk flavor, which is adding to it. Overall it has come up as an energetic and moving track. Tharki Chokro Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt have successfully delivered the demanded. Swaroop Khan has sung it tremendously well; his Rajasthani accent to masti in serving words for the song, every effort is audible. The fast beats are pretty enough to make your feet tapping with the song. This introductory song of PK aka Peekay just has rocked with its colorful presentation.

Love Is a Waste of Time

Singer: Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal
ComposerShantanu Moitra
Lyricist: Amitabh Verma

The song is a simple recipe made with cute lyrics, appeasing music, and charming singing. It is further garnered with Bhojpuri accent's tadka to measured words. It has purely come with the essence of a composition from Shantanu Moitra.

Chaar Kadam

Singer: Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal
Composer: Shantanu Moitra
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

The composition is not a great discovery, yet the song is pleasant to ears. The song comes and goes at same pace, with same repetitive music background. Being a song with no up and downs, the singing of  Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal gives you a lukewarm feel.

Nanga Punga Dost

Singer: Shreya Ghoshal
Composer: Shantanu Moitra
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

Tinga-Tinga Nunga Punga Dost! The voice texture of melody queen Shreya Ghoshal is surprising and unbelievable in the song. No, its not about good or bad, it's about her pure voice essence. Joker, loafer, Chor-uchakka, Anaardi, size ka professor any many more words are given to PK in the lyrics of this song. The merge of violin and congo is superb.

However, violin pieces wins your heart throughout the song! It can be a hit number in a true violin lover's playlist.

Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu

Singer: Sonu Nigam
Composer: Shantanu Moitra
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

Sonu Nigam's voice is identifiable at a fraction of second in this song. It seems as if the song is composed keeping him in mind as the strength of his voice is fully used in Bhagwan Kaha Hai Re Tu. The song is a plea that asks God, calls God. Beyond addressing him as a person believing in a particular religion, the song is served to appease and soulfully carved with perfect initial chords.

Dil Darbadar

Singer: Ankit Tiwari
Composer: Ankit Tiwari
Lyricist: Manoj Muntashir
Mixing and Mastering by: Eric Pillai

After listening to other songs of the music album Peekay, the singing and composition of Dil Darbadar seems different and refreshing. Manoj Muntashir has done his job well in lyrics department, which are quirky and indeed romantically intellectual at some places as Khwabo Ka Musafir, Navazina Kafir are some that can be too high terms for some. The mixing by Eric Pillai has also added the sparkles to the composition.

PK Dance Theme (Instrumental)

Composer: Shantanu Moitra

PK Dance Theme is a happy composition that makes you feel listening a poem without words. The instrumental starts at a slow pace, and picks up at another. Worth a hear!

The Bottom Line: Music Review of PK (Peekay) Album

Mostly the songs come bringing some mood or emotions with them, but some of the PK songs are out of any genre or category; they are purely Peekay songs only.  They are neither sad, funny, or romantic; nor classical, rocking, or western; they just belong to the characters of PK. Tharki Chokro is introducing PK, Nunga Punga Dost is describing PK, and Love Is A Waste of Time telling what PK thinks about love. If there is a category and a set way to present the lyrical or story-telling songs, these three define that genre brilliantly.

Bhagwan Kaha Hai Re Tu is a song of plea in which Sonu Nigam's voice is beautifully and fully used.

The used saxophone and Rajasthani instruments in Tharki Chokro, Violin pieces in Nunga Punga Dost, simplicity of Chaar Kadam, innocence of Bhagwan Hai Kaha Re Tu, peppiness of Nanga Punga Dost, cuteness of Love Is a Waste of Time, and quirkiness of Dil Darbadar are what you get left with after listening to PK music album.

The lyrics are the prime in the album. Overall the album gets 3 out of 5.
