Shamitabh Music Review

A writer is the biggest thinker and dreamer of this world, the lyrical part of Shamitabh's music album proves. It is weird yet thoughtful at some places and fresh in its own way. The album songs introduce some ordinary terms in pretty innovative way. See how!
  • Where Sannata and Thappad are too common terms that we have heard many times before, you will see the new sides of them in Shamitabh music album.
  • 'Piddly' word is a new bee to a song's lyrical market, welcomed by Amitabh Bachchan's voice and style.
  • Phillam is pronounced in a different way, and the title track Shamitabh is broken in a different style.
  • Well, what to say about Lifebuoy?! Could you ever thought of a song on Lifeboy? I bet no one could have, even the original maker of the Lifebuoy soap's ad.
However, here it is necessary to mention that the songs are impactful not because of great compositions, but because they are 'brilliantly different'. The lyrical thoughts are fresh. People might not have these songs as the hits in their playlist or like to repeat them to listen, but the songs are surely going to strike them.

Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush, Akshara Hasan starer Shamitabh Songs: Online Video Songs of Shamitabh movie with details, Review and Rating

Sha Sha Mi Mi

Singer: Caralisa Monteiro
Composer: Illayaraaja
Lyricist: Kausar Munir

Shamitabh's title song breaks the movie name Shamitabh into Sha Sha Mi Mi and serves a different recipe altogether. Decorated with striking score, the song is pappy and entertaining.

Sannata

Singer: Shruti Haasan
Composer: Illayaraaja
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

Sannata is a self defining biography of sannata.  After listening to the song, it feels that nobody could have researched so deeper on sannata and describe its parts, types, and characteristics so well before. This sole term is presented by the writer as the biggest star in front of any actor, singer, writer, or genre of a film. Gulzar, Javed, Joshi, Irshad, Amitabh, Sonu, Sunidhi, Shreya, Shruti, Shaan, Shilpa, and Yo Yo Honey Singh are those talents who are openly challenged against Sannata. And in fact Sannata is proudly announced to go viral too in between the song.

"Stereophonic sannata"
"Dolby digital sannata"
"Let's do Sannata!
"Listen to the Sannata!

These are some entries that bring the expression of "What?!" to you.

Piddly

Singer: Amitabh Bachchan
Composer: Illaiyaraaja
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

Pyar (love) is supreme and all other are piddly as per the message given through the song. Love, the state of being in love, feeling for the lover, and all those tingling moments related to love are being weaved in the lyrics of a song many times. This time these all are being tied in a song around one word, "Piddly" that means unwanted stuff.

The voice of Amitabh Bachchan with sprightliness is a treat for his fans, and has come out pretty naturally and comfortably. The simple song is served with simple composition, yet it is lively to ears.

Ishq E Phillum

Singer: Suraj Jagan
Composer: Illayaraaja
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

Oh this Phillam is so complicated, we didn't know before! The introduction of film/philm/fillam/phillam is quiet diversified. Too long than ordinary, the lyrics of this song revolves around 'Phillum'.

Thappad

Singer: Suraj Jagan, Earl D'Souza
Composer: Illayaraaja
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire
Thappad begins with energetic beats, then takes a u-turn. It keeps
Too many instruments are used in this song and it has made the composition complicated at some points. It has the glimpse of remixing and swagging too.

Lifebuoy

Singer: Suraj Jagan
Composer: Illayaraaja
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire

"Mita do!" "Uda do!" "Kill the kitaanu with lifebuoy!
"Tandarusti kee rakshaa...
karta hai lifebuoy!"

The song sounds like a rhyme for a kid to motivate him for washing hands and bathing with lifebuoy. And at the same time, it tends to confuse that kid too, giving an idea to be violent towards kitanu?! It comes as a comic track to the album.

The Bottom Line: Music Review of Shamitabh Album

The Shamitabh movie's music album is a lyrical highlight for each of its songs: Sha Sha, Piddly, Sannata, Phillum, Thappad, and Lifebuoy. All the songs of Shamitabh movie introduces the tag-words of the songs in their own style. The album strikes even with its average compositions. The songs are not the chart-busters and do not keep the repeat value too. Piddly might be a pick up for its quirky lyrics with simplicity and the strong voice of Amitabh Bachchan. For me, Shamitabh album attains 2.5 out of 5.
